The Queenscliff Sorrento Ferry Service has been in operation since 1987, transporting cars and passengers across Port Phillip Bay, connecting the Mornington and Bellarine Peninsulas.
Commencing service with the MV Princess carrying up to 30 cars and 300 passengers, the vessel was replaced in 1994 with the MV Queenscliff, specially designed to travel in all weather conditions and increasing carrying capacity to 700 passengers and up to 70 vehicles. In 2000, an additional vessel was added, the MV Sorrento, doubling capacity and enabling hourly departures from both ports.
Peninsula Searoad Transport Pty Ltd employs over 70 full and part-time staff including crew, ticket, administration and cafe staff. It is privately owned and as such, unlike other transport companies, does not receive any government funding.
